Classic Barrel Roof
Baltimore Painted Screens are a folk art tradition found only in Baltimore. First introduced in 1913 by William Oktavec, they provided privacy for the city dweller -- People on the street can only see the beautiful painting, while those inside can see out perfectly well. The traditional pastoral scenes most often include a red-roofed cottage and a pond with swans. Many non-traditional paintings show a modern take on an old tradition.
